Walks of the week: Flatlands, Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Borough Park, and South Williamsburg

The last few weeks have been huge for this not-so-little map. Last week it was confirmed to be included in a show next February at BRIC with the Brooklyn Historical Society. The show will be all contemporary and historical maps of Brooklyn. I could not have imagined anything more appropriate.

With a deadline now of mid-December for mounting and resin application, my schedule for walking is going to be a little pressing, though achievable. I will need to walk an average of 29 miles a week, allowing for the travel I have planned, with some weeks as more intense than others.

Steps toward realizing a digital format is underway using the map as a means for story collection as well as a crowd funding campaign, so I can focus on collecting trash and constructing the piece. More on this soon.

I had a slight anxiety attack last week after understanding all of the actions and decisions I must take this next year, but it only manifested as a closet cleanse and I’m feeling completely up to the task now.

Yeah, 2015!
