Great project: it is an intersection of time-space-individual. What a terrific and simple concept. I wonder how do you decide which paper scraps “qualify” as representative of a place?
I usually don’t think too intensely about each paper because it “qualifies” by simply being on the block. Many blocks have more than one piece that I’ll need to narrow down when I make the map, so I’ll have some options. I do spend a bit of time researching beforehand to understand the history of each area, so that’s always floating somewhere in the back of my mind.
